Solar and Battery Installation in The Range, Rockhampton

This week the boys completed a solar and battery installation in The Range, Rockhampton.

The customer already had an existing 6kW solar system on the house. It was only a few years old and still working well, so there was no reason to replace it.

When we went through the numbers though, it was clear why they were looking at a battery.

  • Average daily usage: around 17kWh
  • Average daily export: around 15kWh

So the system was doing its job, but it wasn’t producing enough excess solar to properly support a battery.

What we did

To fix that, we added an extra 6.1kW of solar using 13 x 475W Jinko Tiger Neo panels.

Straight away, this made a big difference. During the January billing period, that additional solar generated around 31kWh per day.

That’s exactly what we needed. With the original system plus the new array working together, there’s now more than enough solar to confidently charge a 33kWh battery system.

Layout and install

As you can see in the photos, we designed the new array on the west-facing side of the house to help pick up that afternoon generation and smooth out the daily output.

The battery has been installed neatly in the garage. Clean, protected, and out of the way.

The boys have done a really tidy job on this one, especially tying the new solar in with the existing system.

The result

By keeping the original system and adding the right amount of extra solar, we were able to:

  • Avoid unnecessary replacement costs
  • Increase daily solar generation significantly
  • Set the system up properly for a large battery
  • Give the customer a much better overall result

This is exactly how we approach solar and battery installs in The Range, Rockhampton. We don’t just throw more gear on the roof, we look at the data and make sure the system actually works the way it’s supposed to.

Another solid install by the REEF Solar & Electrical team.
