Reef Solar & Electrical is proud to announce that we have officially been recognised as…
Reef Solar & Electrical Named Queensland’s Best-Rated Solar Installer for 2026
We’ve done it again.
We’re incredibly proud to announce that Reef Solar & Electrical has been named SolarQuotes’ Best-Rated Solar Installer in Queensland for 2026, securing the title for the second year running after winning the same award in 2025.
Winning once was an incredible achievement for our team. Winning back-to-back in 2025 and 2026 means even more.
Another full year of solar and battery installations has been completed across Gladstone, Rockhampton and Central Queensland. Another year of customer feedback has come in. And once again, Reef has finished on top.
For us, that’s what makes this award so special.
We’re still a locally owned Central Queensland solar company. We still use our own local electricians and apprentices rather than subcontracting installations. We still believe in educating our customers instead of pressuring them into a sale. And we still believe our responsibility to a customer doesn’t end once the panels and battery are installed.
Most importantly, this recognition is based on feedback from our customers, the people who have actually trusted us with their homes and businesses.
Queensland’s Best-Rated Solar Installer: Two Years Running
In 2025, we were incredibly proud to be named Queensland’s Best-Rated Solar Installer for the first time.
Twelve months later, we’ve done it again.
SolarQuotes announced Reef Solar & Electrical as first place in Queensland for 2026 as part of its annual state installer awards.
The winners are determined using a weighted calculation of customer reviews published on SolarQuotes. The scoring system is designed to give smaller, high-performing local businesses a fair opportunity to compete against much larger solar companies with significantly higher review volumes.
Importantly, all Queensland installer listings on SolarQuotes are considered, not only companies participating in the SolarQuotes installer network.
For a locally owned Central Queensland solar company to take out the Queensland title two years in a row is something our entire team is extremely proud of.

What Winning Again Means to Us
When SolarQuotes asked Troy what he thought had helped Reef hold onto the top spot for another year, his answer sums up the way we’ve always approached the business:
“Winning this award for the second year in a row is something our whole team is incredibly proud of, particularly because it’s based on feedback from our customers.
I think what sets Reef Solar & Electrical apart is that we genuinely put the customer first, from the initial conversation right through to installation and after-sales support.
We don’t believe in high-pressure sales. We take the time to educate our customers, understand what they actually need and recommend the right system for their home.
Just as importantly, our installations are completed by our own local team, not subcontractors, and we place a huge emphasis on quality workmanship, communication and leaving every customer genuinely happy with the job.
To be recognised as Queensland’s Best Solar Installer two years running tells us that approach is working, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team behind it.”
– Troy Coburn, Reef Solar & Electrical
Putting Customers First From Quote to After-Sales Support
“Customer first” is something plenty of businesses say. For us, it needs to show in the way we actually operate.
It starts before we quote.
We take the time to understand how a household or business actually uses electricity, what they want their solar system to achieve and whether options such as battery storage make sense for them.
It means explaining those options properly rather than simply recommending the biggest system or whatever happens to be on special.
During installation, it means turning up when we say we will, communicating with the customer and having our own team accountable for the quality of the work.
And just as importantly, it means being there afterwards if something goes wrong.
SolarQuotes highlighted two recent customer experiences in its 2026 award announcement that demonstrate exactly what that looks like.
Daniel was having a 13.3kW solar system installed while his home was still under construction. He couldn’t be at the property on installation day, so Aidan from our team called before starting to confirm exactly where Daniel wanted the inverter installed rather than simply making the decision for him.
“I really appreciated that attention to detail rather than simply making the decision himself.”
– Daniel
Another customer, Johan, experienced an inverter fault after installation. Our team identified the problem and had the faulty inverter replaced the following day.
They might seem like small examples, but to us, that’s exactly what good service looks like.

A Growing List of SolarQuotes Recognition
The back-to-back Queensland award adds to a growing list of recognition for our team.
- 2025: SolarQuotes Best-Rated Solar Installer in Queensland
- 2026: SolarQuotes Platinum Rated Installer
- 2026: SolarQuotes Best-Rated Solar Installer in Queensland
Each award is something we’re proud of, but the part that matters most to us is what sits behind them: consistent customer feedback, quality workmanship and the reputation our team has built throughout Central Queensland.
Local Solar Installers for Gladstone, Rockhampton & Central Queensland
While we’re proud to now be recognised as Queensland’s Best-Rated Solar Installer for two consecutive years, Reef Solar & Electrical remains a locally owned and operated Central Queensland business.
Our roots in the energy industry stretch back to 2009, with the business becoming Reef Solar & Electrical in 2024.
Today, we provide solar installations across Gladstone, Rockhampton and Central Queensland, including Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Yeppoon, Agnes Water and surrounding areas.
As Reef has grown, one thing we haven’t changed is the way our installations are completed.
Our solar and battery installations are completed by our own team of electricians and apprentices rather than being handed over to subcontractors.
That gives us greater control over workmanship, communication and accountability throughout the entire project.
It also means the people installing your system are part of the same local business that will be here to support it afterwards.
Why Local Experience Matters
Solar isn’t simply about putting panels on a roof.
A properly designed system needs to take into account how you use power, roof orientation and available space, your switchboard and electrical infrastructure, future energy needs and whether technologies such as battery storage or EV charging are likely to become part of the home.
Working across Gladstone, Rockhampton and the wider Central Queensland region also means our team understands local homes, businesses and energy requirements.
We can look at the property, understand what the customer is trying to achieve and design the system around that, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.
That combination of local knowledge, in-house installation and ongoing support is a big part of the way we’ve built Reef.
Solar and Battery Storage Across Central Queensland
Solar has changed significantly over the past few years.
For many households, solar panels are now only one part of a broader home energy system.
Alongside residential and commercial solar installations, our team installs solar battery storage systems, hybrid and off-grid solutions, EV chargers and heat pump hot water systems throughout Central Queensland.
We’re also seeing more existing solar customers looking at battery storage as energy usage changes and new technology becomes available.
Whether we’re designing a new solar system, adding a battery to an existing installation or putting together a larger energy solution, the approach remains the same: understand what the customer actually needs first, then design the system around them.
Two Years at Number One
When we won the Queensland award in 2025, it came during our first full year operating under the Reef Solar & Electrical name.
That was a massive moment for our team.
But backing it up in 2026 means something different.
Another year has passed. More solar panels and batteries have been installed across Central Queensland. More customers have dealt with our sales, administration and installation teams. More customers have needed after-sales support.
And another year of independent customer feedback has been taken into account.
Reef finished first again.
For us, that consistency is probably the part we’re most proud of.
Winning in 2025 showed us that the approach we were taking was working. Winning again in 2026 shows us that we’ve been able to maintain those standards as Reef continues to grow.
Thank You, Central Queensland
None of this happens without our customers.
Every person who has trusted us with their home or business, recommended Reef to a friend or family member, left us a review or simply supported a local business has played a part in what we’ve achieved.
We’re equally proud of the people behind Reef: our electricians, apprentices and support team who represent the business every day.
To have a locally owned Central Queensland solar company recognised as Queensland’s Best-Rated Solar Installer once was special.
To do it in both 2025 and 2026 is something our whole team will remember for a long time.
Next Stop: The 2026 National SolarQuotes Awards
Winning Queensland also puts Reef Solar & Electrical into the running for the 2026 SolarQuotes Best Installer in Australia Award for the second consecutive year.
The state and territory winners will collect their trophies at the SolarQuotes Installer Night at Melbourne’s Showtime Events Centre on 27 October 2026, ahead of All-Energy Australia.
Whatever happens at the national awards, we’re already incredibly proud of what our team and our customers have helped Reef achieve.
